If you’ve ever heard of The Living Daylights you will know Johnno. You know… The ginger one. Johnno is a real good friend of mine and when he told me about what happened when he went to the Revival Tour last year I was so shocked.
Anyways. Now a video has appeared entitled “Brian Fallon destroys douchbag in the crowd.”
1. Johnno is that douchbag.
2. Johnno is not a douchbag.
3. Johnno is rad.
4. Brian Fallon is a douchbag.
5. Brian Fallon is not rad.
This is what Johnno has to say about the whole thing…
Watch this video and bear in mind that Johnno tours all the time and more often than not don’t even get paid enough to make it to the next show…
OK. It was in fact myself and a group of friends who Brian Fallon was getting on his high horse about at this gig. If any of you keyboard warriors got up and actually went to shows, instead of voicing completely inexperienced opinions on things you know nothing about on youtube, the world would be a better place (because lets face it, you’d much prefer sitting at home in your pants watching videos all day instead of going to support your music scene - do correct me if I’m wrong)
Oh.. and if I am wrong, and you did actually claw yourself from your social networking sites for more than 5 minutes (well done), to go to this, you might have heard what me and my friends were talking about. We paid the same amount of our hard earned money as everyone else in that room (some of which went in Brian’s pocket, dunno what he’s so pissed off about), and we travelled miles from home because this was special. Joking aside, if you were there or you went to any of the other dates on the tour you’ll know what I’m talking about. I’ve seen thousands of bands, some good some terrible and I’ve spent far too much time inside music venues over the years not to know when I’m experiencing something special. This was probably one of the best shows I’d ever been to, man… watching your idols all playing each other’s songs together, on the same stage, in front of a packed out crowd singing all the words. So good.
“BEST. NIGHT. EVER.”…. I said that a few times. I’d gone to town on the booze, so granted I probably wasn’t whispering. WE WERE HAVING A FUCKING GREAT TIME. I didn’t pay £20 to go and have an in depth discussion with 5 of my friends in the middle of Rock City?
One of my friends requested a song, just before this clip, to which Brian replied “don’t be an idiot”. Now I wasn’t a massive fan of Brian Fallon even before that night but he certainly wasn’t swingin’ it for me. Then during this song my friend tried to lift his girlfriend onto his shoulders, because she loves the guy. If I’m being honest, I was dead puzzled why he was headlining this thing. Maybe everybody else did pay JUST to see him? I dunno but this was obviously the last straw for Brian. Jeeez.
We left pretty much straight away. He’d ruined what had been (up to that point) a real good time. Purely for being a complete tool. Is having a sold out venue in another country not enough? Being part of the tiny percentage of musicians in the world that actually get paid for their art? Do you really need to demand silence while you’re playing these days? Jesus fucking christ.
We sat out the back of Rock City waiting to explain to him why we having “the most interesting conversation in the fucking world”, and sure enough it wasn’t too long before he showed his face. After repeatedly trying to tell him we were literally saying how we were having,..the best night ever, he just turned into even more of a tool. Got more and more angry, telling us we were out of order, telling us how emotional it is being on tour and how hard it is being away from home (stood beside his wife, signing autographs… in front of a huge sleeper bus).
I have spent the last 4 years living on tour myself, and I don’t have any of those things while I’m away. Didn’t quite understand what was making it so stressful for him. Must have been having to load in all that gear by himself, or worrying about when he’s gonna eat next. Yeah…
You can all relax though. After we’d all had our say and the smoke had cleared, he shook everyone’s hand and gave out free t shirts, apologising profusely for directing his anger towards us. What a lovely chap.
There you go. A factual account of what really happens when “Brian Fallon destroys the douchebag in the crowd”
Sorry Brian, we’ll be quieter next time. If I can ever bring myself to putting money in your pocket again.
And before you all start ranting at me…. I really couldn’t give a shit. You either weren’t there, or you’re opinion is irrelevant.
